Testimonies - Here is mine.
I was raised in a middle class family. My mother took on the responsibility of taking me and my
three older siblings to the Episcopal Church every Sunday as we were growing up. But even with
12 years of ‘perfect attendance’, I never knew there was a personal surrender necessary, or a
relationship to be had with God. As a young teenager, I started to become rebellious, and
strayed from the church. I got married at the age of 18 and settled into a life of homemaking and
raising my own 4 children. The burden and responsibility started to take its toll, but through the
prayers and support of two close friends who had recently gotten saved, I surrendered my life to
the Lord at age 25. I have been in love with Him and served him ever since. My life was
somewhat patterned after my mothers in that I was the one who brought my children to church
every Sunday, while my husband stayed home. (My relationship with Christ and my involvement
in church caused some problems in my marriage, but adjustments were made, and we managed
an acceptable compatibility for nearly 25 years.) It was still difficult raising 4 children, especially
with the challenge of being the only Christian influence, but God was always faithful to see me
through it.
My relationship with God was further deepened in 1997 when I attended the Brownsville Revival.
I made several trips to Pensacola with friends and youth from our church after my initial visit, and
my life has not been the same. I am still actively involved in my church and missions, but I know
there is more, and I am looking to God for direction for the future.
